Back at Bettola
I decided to swerve from my normal drive into work-- actually, my walk from the parking lot to the office-- and am camped at Cafe Bettola, which is around the corner from the office. Sometimes you just feel like hiding out for a couple hours.
Bettola is a nice place, and interestingly, it has a much older clientele than most cafes I hang out in. For some reason, I think of it as a good place for meetings and e-mail, while Caffe 1929 is a good place to read difficult stuff and write (which is different from doing e-mail).
Maybe it's because this is the only cafe I've been in where the barista has his patents up on the wall.
I've got my headphones on, but hope that doesn't mean that I'm suffering from (or contributing to) the zombie effect.
[To the tune of Grateful Dead, "Shakedown Street," from the album "1991-04-05 - The Omni".]

Agree -- Bettola is the shizzle.
