Acquaintances on Flickr

I'm rapidly turning into a big fan of Flickr, the digital photo site. For me, one of its biggest pleasant-- "features" isn't quite the right word; "consequences" is wrong; "unexpected benefits" is a bit closer, though it's more potent an appeal-- is that I sometimes run across photostreams of people I've met, or with whom I've conducted some kind of professional or scholarly exchange.

A couple weeks ago I came across the stream of someone who had been a client of the Institute, and who turns out to be as astute a photographer as he is an observer of technical change; tonight, I discovered the stream of the creator of Ecto, the blog editor that I'm using at this very second.

Weird, and great.
